Eat Portugal

Me walking the streets of Lisbon

Me walking the streets of Lisbon

It feels like forever since I’ve written a blog post…actually, it’s been 6 months (same thing.) I would attribute my absence to everyday life pleasantly getting in the way…dusting off my bike from the basement and joining a cycling club, breaking away from the office while it’s still light out to enjoy the longer summer days and finally making my way through Steve Jobs’ biography. This long over-due post is inspired by my most recent visit to Portugal. Being here I’ve learned that Portuguese cuisine does not get anywhere near the recognition it deserves. I am the first to admit that other than great wine, Port and cod I did not know what else this country had to offer. Well, I am now proud to confess that I am having a love affair with Portuguese cuisine.
The Portuguese know how to take fresh, local ingredients and using simple preparation create unique and delicious dishes. And they do it with such love and passion for their food. This is how it should be everywhere. Hence, I must share a great cookbook I’ve come across, Eat Portugal – The Essential Guide to Portuguese Food by Lucy Pepper and Célia Pedroso. This book is available through iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/ca/book/eat-portugal/id571306788?mt=11

Célia Pedroso led our guided eating, drinking, walking tour of Lisbon. www.eatdrinkwalk.com Highly recommend it.

Obrigada Portugal!
